Dr. Abbott is Board Certified by the American Board
of Orthopaedic Surgery (
ABOS).

He is one of only a few Orthopaedic Surgeons in the
North Bay who has completed Fellowship training
in Sports Medicine after residency. This was with
Wesley Nottage, M.D., at The Sports Clinic, in
Laguna Hills, Southern California.

Dr. Abbott is an expert in Arthroscopy, and performs
nearly all shoulder and knee reconstructive
procedures through minimally invasive techniques,
in the outpatient surgical setting.

  • Training

Dr. Abbott did all of his undergraduate education, medical education, and surgical
training within California.  He attended the University of California Berkeley and
earned a degree in Molecular & Cell Biology before moving on to medical school at
the University of California at San Diego.

Internship and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery were completed at the University of
Southern California, followed by a one-year fellowship focus in Arthroscopy and
Sports Medicine.

  • Proficiency

Dr. Abbott has published contemporary articles in orthopedic journals and maintains
his proficiency by attending educational conferences each year.  He has served as
an Associate Master Instructor multiple times for the Advanced Shoulder
Reconstruction course of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.  He is a
Clinical Instructor for the University of California at San Francisco and teaches
Orthopedics to resident physicians.
